Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco

ok so I've really died for a rlly long time and I'm not even gona defend myself cuz this is a hobby and I will do whatever I want <3 However, I rlly did miss blogging about books and writing these reviews is super fun so I'm gona try to post more frequently but no promises. k? thanks. this is a review I wrote in like June, enjoy :)

I have gathered you all today to discuss maybe one of my favourite fantasy series at the moment. Ive been trying to drag reading this cuz the last book comes out in September and I just couldn't deal with the wait if it ended in a cliffhanger like the first one did.

lets dive into review

the writing style was exponentially better than the first book and any other book Ive read by her. it was much more mature and descriptive. the writing style almost mirrored the elegance and mystery of the world which created a very immersive experience.

the characters were furthered developed and I loved getting to know wrath more. he is such a complex character and after learning the "plot twist" at the end everything makes a little more sense. Wrath and Emilia's banter was top tier and so fun and sarcastic. I also love how Kerri made the dialogue be more fancy and what you'd expect to hear at some grand ball in the past.

the only thing that ii was meh about this book was some of the world building characters. theres a lot of curses and major powers at play that weren't explained too much. they were introduced in the first book but I would have liked a little refresher. (I wish authors did a mini summary of the most important things you need to know before starting the second book so youre not confused half the time). I got the over all big picture but every character calls things differently so I keep forgetting when they're talking about the same thing.

the monaco Grand Prix just started (after so much wait cuz of the rain) so imma make this short cuz I want to watch lol

1. we dont vibe with Vittoria. I knew she was alive but I dint expect her to be maybe evil and very sus

2. wrath is just a lost puppy with a scary wolf costume and I just love how much he cares for Emilia without looking for credit

3. theres something happening with some of the princes of hell cuz they're being a little too nice and friendly for my liking. I hate not knowing whats happening but it makes for such a good story I dont even care.

4. we still dont rlly know what all the talking skulls are about but if Vittoria was behind them imma be pissed

5. the whole crone reveal was kinda expected but kinda not. I love her tho and I love how she just does care about wraths power and puts him in his place
