Alright so a couple of things you should know about me
1) I love croissants
2) I have two cats
3) I absolutely adore Mariana Zapata and in my books anything she writes is a master piece.
I discovered Mariana Zapata after reading The Wall of Winnipeg and Me (which I will review at some point don't worry) and never looked back since. I fell in love with her slow burn because they allow me to really get to know the characters and just want them to get together. It makes the relationships much more realistic because let's be honest here, how many of us are going to meet some billionaire or mafia king randomly in our work building? But make the billionaire a solider you met through a letter sending program without ever seeing his face and there you go, modern love story!
Mariana Zapata has written yet another book that has completely blew up my standards and moved them sky high because I absolutely fell in love with Adam and I am devastated that he is not a real person :( Ruby was sometimes slightly childish but it was definitely not a deal breaker and I was able to ignore it.
The slow burn in Dear Aaron is probably the most slow I've ever read. I got to a point about 80% in and I was so ready for them to get together (probably because they actually liked each other started off as friends lol)
Also the way this book was structured was so unique! I loved how the first half was their letters and messages and in the second half you got Ruby's inner dialogue. It gave the book such an interesting pace because it was able to skip long periods of time without missing important information. It also just put me in the story because I was able to learn more about Ruby and Aaron in the same time as them!
My only complaint is the epilogue. I think the epilogue is super important, especially in romances, because it provides us with a continuation of the story and allows us to really get that happily ever after. The epilogue in Dear Aaron was pretty short and it just didn't give me all the answers I was looking for. Ruron's (hehehe) love story took so long to get where it is now and it was disappointing that they didn't get the ending they deserved :( Other than that, this book was absolutely phenomenal and just proves what an amazing writer Mariana Zapata is!
