Shatter Me series
not us disappearing for like 2 months... school got busy what can I say. I also fell in a reading slump in December and didn't really read much. But my reading is back and I have an exciting TBR (to be read) list that I will probably ignore and read books based on quotes I see online.
For today's blog, I will be talking about the Shatter Me series.

I didn't really want to read it because it's YA and that phase ended a while ago but I kept seeing quotes and fan art and wanted to know what they meant.
The first book was a good introduction and I know the writing style can be a hit or miss but I actually really enjoyed that. It was probably my favourite part of the book. It was easy to read and it was a refreshing breath from the heavier writing styles I'm used to. Most chapters were short and they go straight to the point so it was a quick read.
The plot and politics side of it didn't really impress me because it wasn't really unique. Pretty much all YA novels have the whole "society is dying and the chosen one will save everyone but not before some brooding man will help her but then betray her and then she'll find her true love in the enemy and they will save the world" trope.
As for the characters, they are pretty basic - nothing too special and out of the ordinary. I did enjoy learning about the superpowers of the characters because some were pretty unique. I could not figure out if Juliette actually had a personality or if it was the whole tragic past and innocence thing.
I read the first novel written in Aarons POV which was interesting in the sense that his character got developed a little but boring because nothing really happened. To be completely honest, I skimmed the second book because I just wasn't that invested in the story line. I skimmed some parts of the third one but then it started to get interesting and the relationships between the characters got deeper so I ended up just reading the last one. The ending was unsatisfying so I understand why she made more books. Personally, I am not really interested in reading them since they are YA and details are more superficial. However, it was probably one of the better YA books I've read.
Anyways, I rated the whole series ⭐⭐⭐.8/5

I have read so many books with the enemies to lovers trope so I am so disappointed in myself that I started rooting for Adam when Aaron was very clearly the "enemy". When I finally realized this, I became more invested in Aaron's character arc and was curious to see his perspective and point of view.
I wished we got more detail and drama in the last battle because it was just so short.
Adam needed to just leave in book two because even though I wasn't that invested in the characters, he pissed me off and just over complicated everything. Ik I kinda rooted for him at the beginning but again, I should have seen it coming.
Sorry this is all over the place but I don't really know how to structure it.
Ok now for real, the end :)
